Heritage Building Façade Preservation for Ledcor
Introduction:

When Ledcor recently needed specialized help with demolishing and dismantling a heritage building in Vancouver’s historic Gastown, they called Pacific Demolition.
The Challenge:
Gastown is a vibrant and historic neighborhood and business center in downtown Vancouver. In addition to the safety of workers and public alike, one of the major concerns on this project was the preservation of the façade of the building, which was to be incorporated into the new construction.
Although we were contracted to demolish the building, we knew we needed to salvage as much of the brickwork and woodwork as possible. This was not an easy job.
The Solution:
Ledcor trusted Pacific Demolition with this specialized procedure.
Our crews followed an engineered plan to carefully deconstruct the building using a combination of manual labour and mechanical equipment. Items such as wood beams and brick were salvaged for re-use.
Not only did we execute according to our demolition plan, but we provided a safe and efficient program that prepared the way for new construction.
The Outcome:
Ledcor got exactly what they needed, in terms of the safe and thorough demolition of the heritage building with all of the key legacy items salvaged for future use. We were also able to deliver our services within a dense urban area with minimal disruption to nearby businesses, pedestrians, and the travelling public. All in all, we completed the job and earned another satisfied client.
